Background

NDDO was established in 1984 and is part of the local enterprise agency network. Although originally funded by North Down Borough Council and Invest Northern Ireland (INI formerly LEDU) as a company limited by guarantee the company has now achieved charitable status and has achieved financial self-sufficiency with a policy of reinvesting in the local community.

The Organisation is overseen by a Board of Directors who give their time voluntarily and are representative of local businesses and the North Down Borough Council.

Core Objectives

The core objectives of NDDO are the development of enterprise in North Down and assistance in the creation of jobs within the Borough.

Services

Our role is three-fold:

  1. Landlord Provision and management of a range of rental workspace totalling over 80,000 sq ft
  2. Training Provider Provision of a range of courses including the Start A Business Programme
  3. The identification and implementation of programmes aimed at stimulating economic development within the Borough.

Our mission statement reflects our determination to meet the enterprise and business needs of the Borough in the most effective manner.

Accreditations

All staff hold both SFEDI and IBA qualifications and the Organisation has also achieved ISO 9001.2000 accreditation.

Membership

Enterprise Northern IrelandLynne Vance - Chief Executive of NDDO LtdThe Organisation is delighted to be a member of Enterprise Northern Ireland, with their Chief Executive, Lynne Vance, being a Director of ENI representing the Outer Eastern Region.

Lynne is also a member of the SIGNAL Steering Group which is an advisory body set up to recommend, advise and help in identifying and addressing strategic economic development issues in North Down.

 

Future Plans

Due to an overwhelming demand for workspace, NDDO are about to embark on an exciting new development – the North Down Business Village in partnership with NDBC, NDAI and INI. This will result in 17 new units being created for start up businesses and has been made possible by funding support from DETI (Peace II), the International Fund for Ireland and NDDO's own contribution.
